The present administration for the City of Ville Platte announced their bid for re-election together with
common goals and a sense of unity.
“While we may have individual goals, we all work on a common goal,” Mayor Bill Jeanmard said on
behalf of the group. “We consider this one city with one vision for the future. We believe we can
continue to build on what we have accomplished in the last three years. The best way to do this is to
continue this journey together. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the people of Ville Platte.
We ask for your continued support.”

In a prepared statement, Mayor Bill Jeanmard announced he shall seek a second term as your mayor.
Mayor Bill Jeanmard stated a great city is measured by the quality of the lives of the people who live in
it.
“Now is the time for continued leadership grown out of taking on the city’s toughest challenges with
success. I have both the record and experience to continue to unify both the council and the
community. I have experience where it counts. I am proud of my record, but there is more to do. As
mayor, I also offer new ideas for an ever-changing city.
“For nearly 30 years the people, by their votes, entrusted me with two of the most important offices in
this city – councilman and then mayor. Both jobs have given me unique preparation. While others can
posture on the issues, I have a record to run on. Through determined and focused leadership, we met
the legitimate concerns of all sides and found solutions that will work for the future.
“I have to tell you, no one can achieve success in this business alone. You need partners and I am
very proud of all of these great partners. Without them we would not be able to make the progress we
have. My partners are our city clerk, our managers, our chiefs, our various board members, committee
members, civic organizations, faith based groups and the excellent staff we have throughout the city.
We are fortunate to have a city council with a vision for the future and one that works together in unity
to move our city forward.
“And thanks to the residents of Ville Platte who inspire me every day to make a difference. Making a
difference is what’s it’s all about.
“Quality of life means quality jobs. And I want to create a climate that encourages businesses and
entrepreneurs to follow their ingenuity and invest in their ideas. At the end of each day, regardless of
what we do for a living or if we are retired and so on … it’s so important that we ask ourselves …. Are
we making a difference today, and we should always know that there is hope for a better tomorrow.
“We have made a few mistakes along the way, but I am determined to continue the progress we have
made over the past three-and-a-half years. It is important we remain unified and move forward. Today
the momentum for success is with us.
“If we are going to stay together as a community, now is the time for leadership that measures and
balances the needs of every neighborhood and every business. I know what this city is, I know what it
has been, and I know what it can still become.
“As we move into the year 2011, it will be the most financially challenging time of my 30 years in office.
These challenges have not only shaken our state but our nation. My conservative budgeting has
prepared us to weather the current crisis. Together with the city council, we are very proud of the fact
that despite the loss of revenues coupled with increase expenses, we have been able to continue our
level of service to the community, and we have done so without any employee loss of benefits or hours.
“However, I will not rest on these successes; there is still more work to be done. Our residents deserve
the best that we can offer.
“I love Ville Platte and its people. I know we have made progress in many areas and there’s more work
to do. I have strived to conduct and oversee an open, transparent government for and by all of the
people of our city.
“It has been a great privilege and honor to serve you as your mayor. I am ready to pursue a second
term to finish the work we started three-and-a-half years ago and continue the progress we have
made in creating hope and opportunity for every Ville Platte resident!
“This is a time of tremendous challenges, but I have no doubt that together we will meet these
challenges.
“That’s why today, I offer my candidacy for Mayor of Ville Platte, because I believe I have a lifetime of
experience that counts. Experience that will continue to work for you and that will continue to bring the
improvements that our community deserves. I will continue to strive for an efficient, cost-effective city
government.
“I ask that you consider allowing me to continue to work diligently to represent each of you and your
families, to the best of my ability, as Mayor of the City of Ville Platte. In short, I will continue to work with
you to build a Ville Platte that we are proud of and one that is respected.
“My wife Emily and I have three daughters, Cherie, Nancy and Victoria. We share the same dreams
that you share for the future of your children. We must work so that tomorrow will be better than today.
“Please join our effort to continue serious leadership with a fair, honest and open government.

“Please re-elect your Mayor – Bill Jeanmard,” he said. (Visit www.billjeanmard.com.)
